Deceased Name: BETTY JOYCE (STEWART) BERMAN Betty Joyce (Stewart) Berman, 90, of Duluth, passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in her home, at Pines II Apartments. Betty was a piano teacher for many years, an active member
of her synogogues, Tifereth Israel and Temple Israel, a member of the Council
of Jewish Women, Hadassah, and the auxiliary of Sholom Home in St. Paul. She
was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and
Lillian Stewart; her brother, Marvin Stewart; and her loving husband of 67
years, George J. Berman. Survivors include her son, Michael (Carol) of Washington,
D.C., daughters, Sheila (Danny) Teitelbaum of Denver, Colo., and Nance Berman
Alexander of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy and Mona Teitelbaum, Adam
and Tracy Teitelbaum, Kirsten and Francis Heckendorf, Nicole and Warren Kruger,
and Heidi, Carly, and Tyler Alexander; six great-grandchildren, Rachel and
Aaron Teitelbaum, Zachary, Maggie, and Sam Heckendorf, and Gabriella Kruger;
and many loving nieces and nephews. Betty was a most loving and kind soul. Her devotion to
family and kindness will be long remembered. The family wishes to extend
their deepest appreciation to Betty's caregivers, Char Foss, Jean Hietkamp,
Elizabeth Maki, and Marian Stenenson. SERVICES:11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 in Temple Israel,
1602 East 2nd Street. Shiva service will be held in Minneapolis at a later
date. Contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the George and Betty

55108, or the Betty Berman Memorial Fund at Temple Israel, Duluth. Duluth News-Tribune (MN) Deceased Name: GEORGE J. BERMAN George J. Berman, age 88, of Duluth, died Sunday, May 5,
2002 at Lakeshore Lutheran Home. George was owner/operator of Independent Dry Cleaners and
Launderers. He was a community activist and served on several boards
including The Sholom Home in St. Paul, President of Tifereth Israel
Synogogue, President of Jewish Federation and Community Council, a member of
the Kiwanis Club of Duluth and was a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Sam
Berman. Survivors include his devoted wife Betty of 67 years, son,
Michael (Carol) of Washington D.C., daughters, Sheila (Daniel) Teitelbaum of
Denver, CO., and Nance Alexander and Joseph Alexander of Minneapolis,
sisters, Ruth (Nathan) Horwitz of Denver, CO, Janet Davis of Duluth,
Harriette (Jack) Bober of Rancho Bernardo, CA, grandchildren, Jeremy and Mona
Teitelbaum, Adam and Tracy Teitelbaum, Kirsten and Francis Heckendorf, Nicole
and Warren Kruger, Heidi, Carly and Tyler Alexander, great-grandchildren,
Rachel and Aaron Teitelbaum, Zachary, Maggie and Sam Heckendorf and many
loving nieces and nephews. George was a most loving and kind soul. His gentle
spirit will be long remembered. The family wishes to extend their deepest
appreciation to Betty and George's caregivers, Jean Heitkamp, Marian
Stenersen, Char Foss and Diane Davidson. SERVICES: The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May
7th at 11 AM at Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd Street. Shiva Service will be held
Wednesday, May 8th at 7 PM at the Berman residence at 70 E. St. Marie St.

Family Fund at the Shalom Foundation, Mpls., or the George Berman Memorial
